Our Story: A Shared Sky, A Common Cause
Located in the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside, RAF Ingham Heritage Centre stands on the hallowed ground of a former wartime airfield. During the pivotal years of World War II, this site was a hive of international cooperation and courage. It was the home of the brave men of the Polish Bomber Squadrons, who stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the British aircrews of No. 199 Squadron RAF.
The Brotherhood of the Air
The history of RAF Ingham is defined by an unbreakable brotherhood. Here, the “Polish Spirit” met British resolve. Whether it was the Polish airmen of 300 Squadron flying dangerous missions over occupied Europe, or the British crews of 199 Squadron pioneering vital electronic counter-measures and radar jamming, these men shared the same runways, the same risks, and the same dreams of a free world.
At RAF Ingham this was not just a military alliance; it was a profound friendship forged in the heat of conflict. After the war the site continued its mission as a Resettlement Camp, helping those who could not return to the now communist Poland, find a new home in the United Kingdom.
Our Mission: Preserving the Legacy
Today, we are a volunteer-led non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring this history remains alive. We are considered the second most significant institution in the UK concerned with the preservation of Polish Air Force archives, yet we remain deeply rooted in our local Lincolnshire community.
Every purchase made from our shop, and every donation made to the Reflection Room Appeal, goes directly toward:
Education: Ensuring the stories of the 300-305 and 199 Squadrons are shared with future generations.
Conservation: We are the custodians of fragile letters, diaries, and photographs that tell the human side of the war, and we are committed to protecting these for future generations.
Remembrance: In building the Reflection Room—a sanctuary at the heart of our Remembrance Garden – we provide a place where visitors can contemplate the immense sacrifices made for our freedom.
Why Your Support Matters
When you shop with us you aren’t just buying a product, rather you are becoming a guardian of a unique Anglo-Polish heritage. As a 100% volunteer-run centre every penny we raise is reinvested into the museum to enable us to keep the memories alive.
Join us in honoring the men and women who worked at and flew from these fields—not as strangers, but as brothers.
